To any modern day historians Montgomery's famous plan to end the Second World War by December 1944, will be well know. To those of you less familiar with the period, I am of course referring to 'Operation Market Garden', which on paper, according to many, was near perfect. In hindsight we know otherwise. Notwithstanding the partial success of this daring exploit from a war that has taught the world nothing, a journey along the 60 odd miles of Dutch roads makes for a very interesting and enjoyable experience.
My nephew and I started our journey at Eindhoven airport, traversing the exact route followed by the allies in 1944. Below are just a few of the hundreds of images captured, I hope you enjoy them, and I sincerely hope that you might one day follow the route yourselves.
